I would like to nominate Christina “Na” Bierdeman for the Service Impact Award. Na is currently serving as a corps member for the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps on Sun 4 from the Denver Campus. She has demonstrated extraordinary effort in the area of environmental stewardship. As her team leader I have been witness to the tremendous impact she has had in this field as a part of my team, as well as an individual.

Over the course of the last 6 months she has worked on 3 different projects. The first project was inBoulder,COdoing forest mitigation and irrigation ditch work with Boulder Open Spaces. Not only did she have an impact in these areas as part of our team, she also took it upon herself to take charge of recycling and composting for our house. She did a great job teaching our team about both these important topics, and helping to make sure we took care of them every week. Our team’s second project was inOklahoma City, Ok working with Rebuilding Together. Again, as part of our team Na was integral in helping the non-profit to weatherize and rebuild homes in order to help make them safe and more energy efficient. The third project, the one she is currently working on, is inWilliamsburg,MOworking with the Missouri Conservation Corps doing prescribed burns as well as many other environmental stewardship activities.

Being a part of team on each of these projects she has been shown extraordinary effort in the area of environmental stewardship as a team member. However, not only through her work but also in her personal life she continues to live up to very environmental conscious ideals, as well as influence those around her to do the same.
