sun unit jeff
I am nominating Jeff Leininger for the Service Impact Award. Jeff is a dedicated young man serving the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps program on team Sun 2 at the Denver regional campus. Jeff has shown commitment in his work with environment stewardship throughout his Corps year. As Jeff’s Team Leader I’ve observed his diligent work in multiple components that are required from an above average Corps Member. The first project our team was on was located in Golden, Colorado on an environmental project doing fire mitigation. Jeff was always the first one awake and ready for work, as well as the last one to come back inside from the cold mountain air. He set the bar for the rest of the team to follow with his hard work ethic. Our second round was in New Orleans working at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Even though the project didn’t align with his interests, Jeff was constantly finding projects to start up and lending a hand to the rest of the team. It should be known that Jeff is one of the Assistant Team Leaders, serving as the second in command for the team. In my absence Jeff has done a great job working alongside and managing the team just as I would. Jeff’s third round project is with the National Park Service in Flagstaff, Arizona where he has been maintaining and rebuilding trails, helping in the operations of clearing rock slides, and invasive plant species removal. Our fourth round is rapidly approaching and Sun 2 will be headed to Eudora, Arkansas to work at an arts camp. Sadly, Jeff won’t be joining our team as he was selected at the beginning of the year to be a Fire Management Alternate. Jeff will be in Crown King, Arizona working with their fire department through most of the summer for the end of his Corps year. Jeff’s commitment to environmental stewardship and dependable work ethic has earned him my recognition and what I think should be the acknowledgment of others.
